Excel shortcuts for Mac

Excel for Mac shows KeyTips on the ribbon tabs, but not in the menus, so not all shortcut sequences are supported. ALT fixes this, adding back this functionality with labels on every ribbon menu.

ALT never reads your spreadsheets—it only reads the labels of Excel’s menus. Your keystrokes are never recorded or sent anywhere. ALT only goes online to check your license and look for updates.

1. Drag ALT to Applications and open it.
2. Paste your license key and click Activate.
3. Click Open System Settings, then switch ALT on in the Accessibility list.
4. In Excel, go to Settings, Accessibility, and set Activation keystroke to Option.
5. Tap Option in a spreadsheet. Letters appear on the ribbon.

macOS 13 or later, and Microsoft Excel 16.89 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel.

Another app or macOS may be using the same keys, so Excel never gets them. When ALT catches this, it shows a notice saying what took the shortcut:

Click Open Keyboard Shortcuts and turn that shortcut off, or change it in the other app’s settings. No notice? Email [email protected] with the shortcut you pressed.

Each license works on one Mac at a time. To switch Macs, click Deactivate in ALT’s settings, then enter your key on the new Mac.
